Welcome to The Golden Lion
The Golden Lion is a traditional village pub and restaurant situated in the heart of Magor, Monmouthshire, midway between Newport and Chepstow.
We are situated in the village square and as such, play an important role in the life of the village and its inhabitants. The Square is also home to St Mary's Parish Church, the Baptist Chapel, The Post Office, Chemist, Wine Cellar, Florist, Charity Shop and a selection of take away restaurants and estate agents.

Whilst Julie is a Newport girl (and first visited the Golden Lion in her late teens in the 1980s), James is a fellow celt from Stirling in Scotland, so you are sure of a warm celtic welcome at the Golden Lion.
The Golden Lion is a classic old village pub dating to (c)1600. We are currently trying to trace as much about the history of the building as we can and are gradually returning it to its former glory. Adjacent to the pub we are soon to be opening a small ladies boutique (http://www.thegoldenlionmagor.co.uk/gaslight.html) in what was once a butchers shop owned and run by a previous landlord, with a slaughter house in what is now our cellar and store rooms. Some of the original cobbles remain at the front of the property where you are welcome to sit and watch the village life go by....

We are open each day from 11 am for Teas, Coffees and Pastries (inc. Sunday)
